behind the project
I’m Ann-Kristin Crusius, the creative mind behind the Mobile Summer House.
Born in Germany and trained as an architect in both Germany and Japan, I developed a cross-cultural design approach rooted in clarity, balance, and refined minimalism.
My architectural background shapes every part of this project, from spatial planning to material choices. With the Mobile Summer House, I wanted to rethink the traditional caravan: not just as a vehicle, but as a contemporary living space that is both functional and beautiful.
The current prototype was built in Haarlem at the Maak-terrein in collaboration with Woodwerk, a collective of skilled makers. Their craftsmanship and support turned the design into reality, combining precise detailing with hands-on building knowledge.
This project is about more than design. It’s about creating freedom, a house you can take with you, a space that feels light and open, and a sustainable way of traveling with family or friends.
